FAQ – Ocean Bottle

Each Ocean Bottle purchased funds the collection of 11.4 kg of ocean bound plastic - the equivalent of 1,000 plastic bottles. We often represent the amount in bottles because it’s the easiest way to visualise.

Ocean-bound plastic is mismanaged plastic waste (MMPW) that ends up along coastlines, rivers, and waterways. We focus on collecting plastic from rivers and waterways before it reaches the ocean, as this is far more efficient than collecting it from beaches or the sea.

Our approach: We work with 3 global Plastic Collection Partners in areas most affected by plastic pollution.

We collect all types of plastic, prioritizing socially and environmentally responsible recycling. We fund the collection of hard-to-recycle and non-recyclable plastics (e.g., films, sweet wrappers).

Approximately 75% of collected plastic is mechanically recycled, while 25% is co-processed to generate energy.

Your Ocean Bottle will come with a 10 year warranty. The warranty is valid for 10 years from point of purchase and covers manufacturing defects and parts that have been accidentally broken.

All Ocean Bottles are made with recycled materials.

Depending on the model, this may include recycled stainless steel, BPA-free plastic, silicone rubber, and ocean-bound plastic.

Most Ocean Bottles feature hot and cold stainless steel vacuum insulation to keep drinks at the perfect temperature, but this varies by bottle type.
